Emergency planning has often been misunderstood in the event management industry as a function that can simply be accomplished by themselves or traditional security companies. The reality is that emergency planning is a specialty that should be facilitated by subject matter experts that have both the qualifications and experience.
Our principals and senior consultant are certified emergency mangers or incident management team members that have significant experience developing emergency plans and procures for special events and venues. In addition, all of our principals and senior consultants have served as incident or event commanders and have actual experience implementing plans and procedures in real world emergencies and disasters.

Many firms focus solely on the prevention of possible incidents that may occur, and while this is extremely important, venues should not neglect the other phases of emergency preparedness. EventC2 not only understands the preventive measures that must go it to your events, but also the elements that must be in place to respond and recover from an incident.
In the event of a major incident at a venue the response will be predicated upon not on the venues plans but local response capabilities as well. Consequently, a venue emergency plan should be integrated with and adhere to the same planning formats traditionally seen with public safety.

EventC2 utilizes a comprehensive venue and planning assessment process. The assessment captures existing levels of planning and preparedness utilizing an evaluation matrix for mass gathering events based on nationally accepted principles and practices for such events. This includes analysis of local natural hazards as well as event specific risks. Based on the review, a list of recommendations is developed for subsequent planning efforts.

EventC2 believes an emergency response plan is an important part of emergency preparedness for special events. However, response plans are only effective if they are part of a comprehensive planning process that involves the respective agencies and departments which share responsibility should an event occur. The facilitation of the planning process assists the venue in not only developing an enhanced plan, but also providing personnel with the training needed to implement the various elements of the plan. EventC2’s experience in special event planning streamlines the planning process and allows the planning team members to concentrate on the necessary elements that are needed in an effective plan.

Plan development and training are just two components of effective venue emergency plans. In order for venue emergency plans to be effective they must also be constantly evaluated and revised through exercises. Unfortunately, exercises are often developed without identifying clear objectives which minimizes their effectiveness. EventC2 believes that effective exercises must be properly planned just like the plan itself. Our staff assists the venue in streamlining that process to help maximize the effectiveness of the exercise.
